We undertook a challenging project at St Leonards Hospice in York in 2018. The design, by PRA Architects, was to construct a new canteen for the staff along with the upgrading of 15 bathrooms. Due to the sensitive nature of the site the project presented challenges, and it was landlocked by existing buildings.
The design was a modern steel frame structure, extensive Velfac windows and door units, and a flat roof. The new building allows the hard-working hospice staff to enjoy relaxed break times in a light, friendly environment, with access to an internal courtyard.
